Sew-On Name Labels

Each sew-on name label comes pre-cut on a sheet. Peel it off, position it on the garment (usually on an inner seam, collar, or waistband), then sew firmly along the edges. We recommend stitching all four slides for the most secure hold.

These labels can be attached by hand or with a sewing machine—whichever you prefer. Once sewn on, they’re laundry-safe and designed to stay in place through repeated washes.

While most customers personalise their labels with a first and last name, you can also include additional details such as a room number, contact number, or facility name—handy for rest home residents whose clothing passes through shared laundry.

If you’re unsure what to include on your label, a full name is usually enough for most schools and care facilities to identify items and return them to the right person.

Our personalised sew-on labels work well on most fabrics; cotton, polyester, cotton-blend, wool, and fleece all hold a sewn label with ease. They’re also a great alternative for fabrics that can be tricky with iron-on labels, such as waterproof or water-resistant materials. If you’re not sure what label type suits your garment, sew-on options are always a reliable choice.

Though it takes a bit more effort than other label types, you can still remove sew-on labels. Use a small pair of scissors or a seam ripper to cut the stitching along the edges of the label carefully, then peel it away from the fabric.

Take your time to avoid catching the garment itself. Once the old label is out, you can sew a new label straight onto the same spot. This makes sew-on name tags for clothing a practical choice, even for clothing that changes hands over time—simply unstitch the label and add the new one.
